A family-run coffee shop has opened on one of Nottingham's busiest roads, bringing great coffee, cakes and serene and spacious surroundings to the bustling area.

Following its success in Beeston, :AM Coffee and Bakery has expanded to open a second site in Alfreton Road, on the outskirts of the city centre.

The menu mirrors the one in Beeston, where wholesome breakfasts of things on toast are served — whipped feta and hot honey, smoked salmon and cream cheese, and soft-boiled eggs are just some of the choices.

Bowls with matcha, fruit and yoghurt or granola, English breakfasts, and eggs Benedict, Florentine and royale are served up until 3pm.

Visitors can tuck into chunky focaccia sandwiches filled with salami, cheese, chicken or veggie options such as mozzarella, tomato and olives.

Or those with a sweet tooth are spoilt with tempting croissants bursting with tiramisu or pistachio cream, cheesecake, scones, apple pie and passion fruit cake.

Italian coffee from Illy is served, both hot and iced, alongside tea, again both hot and iced, milkshakes, frappes and soft drinks.

Arber Matoshi, whose cousin Aljon runs the site in Beeston, has opened the second branch, located beneath a newly built student block called Centre Court.

He stated: "Working people, students and everyone else can come in. Everything is the same kind of style and vibe as Beeston. People can come to study or work on their laptops."

The decor has the same natural earthy colours as the first coffee shop with shades of olive green, beige and brown, plants and large windows which let in plenty of light.

With around 110 seats over two levels, it's bigger than Beeston, which has around space for 70. The variety of seating includes stools to perch at the window, small round tables for one, tables for two, a couple of comfy seats and a large table for ten or more.

Arber stated: "We were familiar with that area and when I first saw the plans for the building and heard there would be around 760 students in that building I thought it would be a good opportunity to expand.

"I had a look around he area and there was nothing that kind of style. It's going well so far. We hope it will be busy.

"It's a busy road, and people can see it and just park their cars on the side road all day up to 4 o'clock."

With Beeston being so popular, Arber stated there were no plans to do anything differently.

"We have the same suppliers. That's one thing we didn't want to change as it's growing quite well in Beeston. Everyone is happy with the food and happy with the service.

"Both places will be run and managed by our family. There's no investors. From A to Z it's ourselves. We do everything."

The Alfreton Road premises are open seven days a week until 5pm weekdays and 6pm weekends.
