Robertson wants All Blacks to 'pressure' Wallabies in rematch

Coach Scott Robertson called for more consistency from his New Zealand side Monday, urging them to put "pressure on and create" when they again lock horns with Australia again this weekend.

Text size:

The All Blacks put a record 43-10 defeat by South Africa behind them with a battling 33-24 win against the Wallabies in Auckland to retain the Bledisloe Cup.

They go into the final round of the Rugby Championship on Saturday still in contention for the title, a point behind leaders South Africa.

The Wallabies mounted a rousing comeback at Eden Park from 20-3 down and Robertson expects a fierce reception in the rematch in front of a 60,000 sellout crowd at the Perth Stadium.

"We have got to get more back-to-back moments where we can put pressure on teams and create," Robertson said.

"You get a ref's call, don't get a ref's call.

There's a bounce of a ball... things can change quickly. All the stuff that we can get better in, our personal self-control and game management, that's what we are focusing on."

The All Blacks counted the cost from a bruising encounter, with injured fly-half Beauden Barrett and prop Ethan de Groot ruled out.

Lock Tupou Vaa'i is in doubt with a knee injury, while wing Caleb Clarke has an ankle knock.

"He's running okay, but we'll make a call through the week," Robertson said of 26-year-old Clarke, who scored the first try of Saturday's game.

The All Blacks will be confronted by a Wallabies team strengthened by the returns of giant lock Will Skelton and dynamic back row forward Rob Valetini, adding plenty of muscle to their pack.

"A couple of big bodies coming back, they add more power to their game," Robertson said.

"It will put more of a contest around the football.

"It's going to be a hell of an occasion, with two quality teams going head-to-head."
