HFCL has increased its planned manufacturing investment to approximately ₹1,800 crore after approving further expansion of optical fibre, optical fibre cable and preform production.
In a company filing on September 14, the telecom equipment manufacturer said its board had authorised another ₹820 crore of expenditure. That adds to ₹980 crore already approved for capacity enhancement.
The newly approved expansion covers annual production of an additional 46 lakh fibre kilometres of optical fibre, 56.4 lakh fibre kilometres of optical fibre cable and 300 metric tonnes of preform, the material used to manufacture fibre products.
After the expansion projects are completed, HFCL expects annual manufacturing capacity to reach 43.1 million fibre kilometres for optical fibre, 62 million fibre kilometres for optical fibre cable and 600 metric tonnes for preform.
The company said funding would combine internal accruals, proceeds from preferential warrants already issued to the promoter and a promoter-group entity, and borrowing from financial institutions, among other appropriate financing sources.
